Yet another great program under the family track of PanIIT 2008 - Play chess with Vishy! The three time world champion, first Asian to win the world chess championship, a 39 year old dynamic guy who has made India proud “Vishwanathan Anand” accompanied his wife Aruna, his parents and parents in law. They were also accompanied by the CEO if NIIT Mr. Vijay Thadani, who is also an Alumnus of IIT Delhi.
The occasion was opened by Smt. Natrajan and was later addressed by Mr. Thadani. He talked about their 10 years old association with Vishy and also made a mention of how Vishy & NIIT are contributing to the Mind Championship academy, wherein they have touched around 6,500 schools not only to promote the sport but also to enable the students to acknowledge their full mind potential.

He then shared a few incidents of vishy’s personal life with a pinch of humor. While talking on the contribution of Aruna in Vishy’s life, Mr. Thadani said “the reason for which Aruna likes chess more than Vishy is that “the King is stationary and queen has all the powers.”
Then came a short address by the man himself - Padma Vibhushan recipient Vishwanathan Anand. He mentioned a few words in appreciation for the IITians which was followed by the final and most awaiting moment where he played chess on 14 tables simultaneously. There were people from all the generations in the teams. With one hand in the pocket it looked like a cake walk for Vishy. He took approximately 4 seconds per move which included the time of moving from one table to another. The game went fo around 30 minutes and was then followed by interesting Q & A session, which involved questions on topics ranging from computers, chess, relationships and stress.
